Travel affirmations
Most travel affirmations are wanderlust in the abstract: the world is big, go and see it. A few of Mira’s travel phrases are like that, but most are more practical, because the thing standing between you and a trip is rarely a lack of inspiration.
Some of these 25 are about getting yourself out of the door, some about what to do once you are somewhere new, and some about carrying the feeling home. They are written to sit on a Home Screen, which means you will mostly read them on ordinary days far from any airport, so they have to work there too.
For the trip you keep postponing
Two of these are instructions with a deadline, “today” and “before I feel ready”, because the trip that never happens usually stalls in the planning. The wider lines are for the weeks in between.
Pairs with the actual place, if you have picked one; a departures board or an open road, if you haven’t.
Once you’re there
Small, specific and doable. They are written for the version of a trip where you rush from sight to sight, as a nudge to do one thing nobody scheduled.
Pairs with a street corner, a window seat, a café table — the moments in between rather than the landmark.
Travelling light
Half packing advice, half a way of living. “In every sense” and “places, not things” carry the second meaning without spelling it out.
Pairs with one small bag, an empty platform, a view with a lot of sky in it.
Coming back changed
For the reason you go at all. These read just as well on a Tuesday at home as on the road, which is the point of keeping them on your phone.
Pairs with a horizon, open water, the view from somewhere high — photos with room to breathe.
Put the destination on your Home Screen
If you have chosen where you are going, use a photo of that place with a line from the first group. Seeing the actual street every time you unlock your phone is harder to forget than a folder of saved pins.
