Vision board ideas for couples

A couple’s vision board is mostly a conversation with pictures. The board is the result; the useful part is the hour you spend deciding what goes on it, because that is where you find out what each of you has been hoping for and not saying.

Here is a way to do it that leaves room for both of you, and ideas for what to put on it.

Make it in three rounds

Doing it in rounds stops the louder person’s ideas from filling the board first.

  1. Each of you picks five pictures alone, without showing the other.
  2. Lay them all out and talk through each one: what it is, and why.
  3. Keep the ones you both want in the middle, and give each of you a corner for the rest.

Ideas for the shared middle

  • A trip you want to take together this year
  • The home you are making, or the one you are saving for
  • A weekly ritual: a dinner, a walk, a morning without phones
  • A money goal you are both working towards
  • A photo of the two of you on a day you would like more of

The corners are the point

Your partner’s corner is where you learn the most. A course they want to take, a friend they miss, a career change they have not mentioned: these are the pictures that make a shared board more than a holiday wish list. Agree to support each other’s corners even when they are not your thing.

Check it together

Pick a regular moment to look at it again: the first Sunday of the month, or each time you book a trip. Ask which picture you have moved towards and which one you have both been avoiding.

Two phones, one board

A board on the fridge is seen at breakfast. A board on both your phones is seen all day. With Mira, each of you can put the same photos and lines on your own Home Screen.

Agree on three

If you only agree on three pictures, that is a good board. Three shared goals you both see every day beat fifteen that one of you chose.
