Vision board ideas for men
Plenty of men like the idea of a vision board and never make one because the examples online look like scrapbooks. It does not have to look like that. A board is just a handful of pictures of what you are aiming at, kept somewhere you will see them.
Think of it as a dashboard for the year: a few goals, one picture each, and a line that says why.
Career and building something
Picture the work itself: what you are making, where, and with whom. A job title on its own gives you nothing to do on Monday.
- The project or business you want to ship this year
- Your workspace set up the way you would like it
- A skill you want to be properly good at, and the tool that goes with it
- Someone a few steps ahead whose career you respect
Money
Pick one number and one purpose. A board covered in sports cars says less than a single card with the amount you want saved by December.
- A savings, debt or investment target written down
- What the money is for: a house, a business, time off, security for your family
- A spreadsheet or app screenshot you will actually update
Fitness and health
Use training pictures you could take yourself next week, not physiques from an advert.
- The route you run, the gym you go to, the bike you ride
- A race, a lift or a hike you want to complete
- Sleep: a dark room and an alarm set for the same time every day
People
The area most men leave off, and the one they are often gladdest to have added.
- A photo with the friends you want to see more of
- Time with your partner or kids, the way you want it to look
- A call you keep meaning to make
The thing you keep putting off
Every board needs one picture of the project that has been “next year” for a while: the trip, the instrument, the book, the boat you want to restore. Put it on the board and give it a date.
Where to keep it
If a poster on the wall is not your style, keep the board on your phone. Mira shows one photo and one line at a time as a widget, which looks like part of the phone rather than a collage.
Five pictures is enough
Start with five: one per goal that matters this year. Add more only when one of them is done.
